Farewell Fuji

Apples to which I've been beholden:
I'll miss your shades of red and golden.
Sweet memories I'll surely hold
Of Rome, Braeburn, and Jonagold;
I'll never forget you Granny tart,
But Honey Crisp just stole my heart.

Love this post. The "farm" crop was almost zero this year. We had loads of blossoms on our Asian pear, Akani and Honey Crisp trees. We were looking forward to a bumper crop, then a couple days of high intensity winds came in and stripped almost every blossom. This is the first year we won't be canning applesauce. To be honest, I think there were six decent apples off of all our trees. Yes, Honey Crisp are awesome.

Did you know it was developed here in Minnesota? Fun things to know and tell...

Clarie, where are you located in MN. Shan's Gramma and Grampa Grimmius were born and raised in the Hadley/Chandler area, ah SW if you don't know about those wee towns, lol. His dad was born in Pipestone.

I love the poem and I love Honey Crisp apples too!

My question is, did you write that apple poem? I think it is spectacular and you are very clever. I agree with the conclusion.

You are funny, Peg. I wrote that silly poem in about 2 minutes, so it's definitely not a work of art. But it expresses what I felt in the moment perfectly!
