Why Mormons Build Temples
Because most of my friends here in NC are not Latter-day Saints, I often field questions about our beliefs and why we choose to live the way we do. Some of the most common inquiries I have received are on the subject of the temple.
Within the LDS community over the past few weeks there has been some flutter about Big Love, an HBO show which inaccurately depicts Mormons as polygamists. Apparently, they are creating a new episode about the temple. To see the church's position on this, click here.
There will always be a great deal of speculation about the unknown, and for this reason, I thought this video might answer a few questions. My faith is something that keeps me going in tough times and I love being able to share it with others.

Crazy Hair Day
We've been doing the school's Read-a-thon for the past two weeks and I'm proud to say that both Ryan and Emma each read over 1,000 minutes! That's a lot of reading for a 6 and 7 year old and I think we're all breathing a sigh of relief that it's over! The school made it fun by having theme days for the kids: Different Shoe Day, Favorite Dr. Suess Character Day etc. Their favorite was "Crazy Hair Day."
Emma wore her very own afro curtesy of very small sponge curlers and Ryan requested a mohawk. You can see in the picture, his hair is a little shiny; I used so much gel, that it stayed up the entire day, even in extreme humidity!
I promise, I did not tell Emma to make a crazy face. No, the rubber face did that all on her own. Hahahahahahahahaha.
Emma Lost Her First Tooth!
Emma has been "waiting and waiting" for her teeth to fall out ever since Ryan's started falling out last year. She has been wiggling them (even when they weren't loose) and trying to get them to come out for some time. On Monday, she chose a library book about a kid who lost his first tooth in time for school pictures. So, the next day Emma wiggled her very loose tooth and it came out! The ironic thing was that the next day was picture day! Sometimes, all we need is a good book to do the magic.

Curly Cues
Last weekend it was very rainy which equals curly hair for me. Otherwise, it's not pretty (it's pretty fuzzy). Anyway, every time I wear my hair curly, the girls want theirs the same way. So we wrapped their hair in those spongy curlers (remember the 80s?) after their Saturday night bath and Sunday morning came (a little too early) when Madeline realized at 6:00 a.m. that she still had curlers in her hair and couldn't wait to see her "princess hair." Unfortunately, when I unrolled it, it was more like "Annie hair" and when I made that comment, she broke down crying, "Mom! I don't want Annie hair, I want princess hair!" So I did my best to put it in an updo and here's what they looked like: Aren't they sweet?

Where In The World Is Faith Mather?
Dear Faith Mather,
If you are reading this message, then my prayers that you googled your name and found my blog were answered. If you would please pay all your past due bills, I would greatly appreciate it. It seems you have either inadvertently or purposefully been giving out my cell phone number as yours and I have been hounded to death by bill collectors. At this point, I don't really care if you pay your bills or not, but I would be most grateful if you would at least change your phone number. I have faith, I do.
Love across the miles,
One Very Annoyed Cell Phone Subscriber
